- Q:Ive been looking at Apartments and one has some real potential except for the fact that the living room has wood paneling on 3 of the walls. So one question is do you think I can put wall curtains on those three walls? Ive seen it done on one wall but never three. Is there any other option I can use to cover the wood paneling like wall paper or something? If not what can I possibly do to make this wood paneling presentable? Any help will be greatly appreciated!
- Are you renting or buying? I would think this makes a difference to what option you choose. Personally, I don't think curtains on 3 walls would look nice. If you did decide on this option you would have to use curtain rails and make sure the fixings go in to the wall 'behind' the panelling. Or with the weight of the curtains, they would just fall off, leaving holes behind. If you are renting, you would have to check that your Landlord was ok with you doing this. A better option would be to paint over all the panels. You can use any colour you like and apply with a roller. Preperation would be the key to a good finish. You would either have to give all the walls a light sand, or use liquid sand. Which is easy. You wipe on, wipe off, allow to dry and then paint over. If the panelling is completely flat, you could wallpaper over it. Using the correct adhesive. If you have 'grooves' in the panelling, then wallpaper won't work. You would have to cover the panelling in either plasterboard or sheets of plywood first. But again, any fixings would have to go into the wall behind. Is it an option to remove the panelling? Often, panelling has been put up to cover damaged walls. To hide a, 'multitude of sins'. So, you don't know what you might find underneath!!! And it depends how the panelling has been put up. Usually wooden battens are put on the wall first, to fix the panelling too. If it was me, I'd just paint over the whole lot! And maybe have a feature wallpaper on the 4th. wall.

- Get two scones with holes so you can pass the fabric through it. Space and fix them on the wall according to the size of your bed. Buy some inexpensive sheer kind of fabric that would be soft and can pass through the holes. There is no stitching involved here. You just have to hang the fabric in an imaginative way or just plain old style of a semi circle in the center and the two sides falling. An Indian Saree would be good too. And wallah!!! you not only get the curtains but also a good head board for your bed.

I hear that white curtains would make the walls look somewhat washed out, and red curtains will overpower the yellow walls due to their being too much red in the room. Any suggestions?
- Either cream or sage green would be lovely (but I'm voting for sage!). Just remember, whatever color you use should be repeated throughout the room to create a more cohesive look. Otherwise, the curtains will look like an after-thought. So, accessorize with throw pillows, vases, artwork, etc. that coordinate with your curtains, and your room will look beautiful!

- NO WHERE. Curtain rods MUST be screwed into a wall stud (the one around the window) for good support.
- Q:My apartment is really poorly insulated. The best way to fix that would be to get foam/injected insulation done but right now I can not afford it. I was thinking that there must be a place where you can get insulated curtains to hang on walls that are exposed to the exterior. Like those large commercial type curtains in office building that you would hang along an entire wall or foam board that you would stick to that wall.It wont be as efficient but it will keep me from paying a small fortune for heating while I save up for the insulation work.Thanks!
- We had that problem in my mom's 80 year old house on the side walls which were plaster without insulation. We bought 4' x 8' rigid foam insulation sheets (1 1/2 inch, I think) and wrapped them with burlap (you could use any fabric -- king-sized sheets from a discount store would be a cheap source of a lot of yardage). Then we stapled vinyl sheeting to the wall for a vapor barrier and fastened the panels to the wall with drywall screws through to the studs. It made a huge difference in keeping the rooms warm and the wrapped foam made a giant bulletin board that we could hang things on.

Alternatively you could have curtains with metal looking eyelet holes and hang them on a pole (not the same as picture but lookin cool just the same) Lovely idea btw
